About Prenatal Yoga Center:
Prenatal Yoga Center, Manhattan’s first yoga studio for expectant and new parents, was created by prenatal specialist Deb Flashenberg in 2002. Over the last 15 years PYC has stayed true it's mission to empower expectant women by educating them about the physiology of the pregnant body, challenging them to reach their limits safely, and dispelling fears based on preconceived limitations. Highly trained and educated instructors cater to the anatomical, hormonal, and muscular changes which occur normally in the pregnant body by creating intelligent sequences which lessen physical discomfort.
Pregnancy is a unique and wondrous time in life which is why PYC places such high value on the three "C's"; comfort, community, and childbirth education. Using this three-pronged approach, PYC teachers address the aches and pains of pregnancy so that students feel better daily, facilitate a supportive community of friendship, and integrate childbirth education into every class to help prepare pregnant women for labor, delivery, and motherhood.
As a resource center, PYC provides information and education for new parents as their families expand, offering various workshops and lectures that address common issues related to pregnancy, early childhood parenting, family dynamics, and alternative healing. Over time, the studio has evolved into a thriving community of expectant, new, and not-so-new parents, who visit the peaceful and relaxing sanctuary for yoga classes, parenting workshops, Baby & Me classes, and more.
